Chapter Eight

Tristan had undressed Genna completely, and she stood naked, her arms by her side. He pulled clips out of her hair, then ran his fingers through it.

“Lovely.” He cupped one full breast, and bent his head to kiss her nipple.

Once again, Star admired the petite woman’s body, and wondered what it would feel like to take one of those hard peaks into her own mouth. She’d never been with another woman in bed. In college, she’d been far too shy to join in the experiments her classmates seemed to enjoy. Her companions now would certainly welcome this move on her part, she was sure.

Genna moaned and tilted her head back. Tristan moved his lips to her neck, caressing her body with his hands. Star squirmed on the bed. The waves of intense need coming from Genna and Tristan were almost palpable. Adam must have felt it also. He stroked her thigh, his fingers sliding again into her wetness.

Still, underneath the heat, a tingle of apprehension surged, stronger now. Star pushed down her desire and concentrated on the deeper feelings beneath the surface.

“We need to stay alert. I can sense—” she began.

Suddenly, the door burst open and Lucas strode into the room, a gun in his hand.

“Lucas!” Adam jumped off the bed and headed towards the man, but Lucas reached Genna and Tristan first, and pushed Genna away.

“Just what do you think you’re doing with her?” Lucas growled. “You two, stay back. This is none of your business.” He waved the gun at Adam and Star with one hand, and slapped Tristan across the face with the other.

Tristan lunged, but Lucas stepped back, brandishing the gun.

“Stay where you are or I’ll put a bullet in your head.”

“What the hell is your problem? I wasn’t hurting her.” Tristan made another move towards Lucas.

“Tristan, stop! Look at Genna.” Star pointed to where the woman stood.

Genna was shifting, but her form was not that of the sweet collie Star had petted before. Now, her body expanded, her arms and legs extending, hands and feet mutating into talons. Her lovely skin changed, a thick growth of iridescent scales replacing the smooth white covering. Something spread from her back, near the shoulder blades. Wings?

As they watched, Genna grew taller, her arms and legs stretching out longer still until her head almost touched the ceiling. The wings unfurled and fluttered slightly.

Holy shit, she’s a dragon!

“I told you this was going to get weird,” Star whispered to Adam.

The beast took a step towards Lucas, a low growl coming from her throat.

Lucas was looking at Genna, but turned back to Tristan with a satisfied smile on his face.

“Oh dear. I’ve annoyed your girlfriend. Star, this might be a good time to let loose with one of your special shrieks.”

“I don’t think—”

“Just do it, don’t argue with me!” Lucas pointed the gun at her.

Star opened her mouth and yelled, having no trouble summoning a feeling of fear. Within a moment, Genna waved and shimmered and shifted back to human form, collapsing on the floor.
